INSTEAD of pointing our dirtiest finger to anyone linked to the P8.68 billion dubitable deal between the DBM and Pharmally Pharma, let us rather make fun of the mole (nunal) on our lips.
One day, the "lord of midnight deals" offered a reward to corrupt public officials by upholstering with a color-coded mole on their lips based on the amount they could pocket.
If the amount involves thousands, the reward will be one "green dot" per thousand pesos; if the corrupted amount is by millions, the compensation will be an "orange dot" per million; and when it involves billions, a "red dot" per billion is rewarded.
Then the lord asked, "Would every corrupt public official agree? Hearing no objection, the business will go on."
As the dawn breaks the east, the tale about the color-coded rewards spread the town like wildfire. So the senate blue ribbon committee came to investigate. All persons of interest and its linkages were invited; but only a handful came, others are hiding and cannot be located on the given addresses.
And the few who came in were wearing face masks. Very expensive masks that concealed their swelling lips with color-coded moles.
Much to the desire of the committee chair to oblige the attendees to put off their "golden face mask", but he cannot do otherwise with the prevailing health protocols; especially if its purpose of removal is to uncover who among them got most of the red, orange, and green moles.
Then a big mammal proposed to tap the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). It is when the NBI flexes the long arm of the law that the ring can dance with the blue ribbon; only then that President Rodrigo Duterte can pound his breast and brag victorious in the battle against corruption.
