Family reunions, parties in resorts temporarily banned

GATHERINGS such as family reunions and parties in beach resorts and public swimming pools in Cagayan de Oro are now temporarily banned.

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Monday, May 24, issued an executive order (EO) that temporarily bans the conduct of certain activities in beach resorts and public swimming pools of hotels and other similar establishments in the city.

The EO was issued to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Among the prohibited activities are family reunions, birthday/group/organization parties, foam parties, and other similar events or occasions.

According to the EO, these activities result in undue crowding in the limited spaces.

Establishments found violating the EO will have their respective business permits cancelled.

There have been numerous reports of people congregating together in limited spaces such beach resorts and swimming pools of various hotels and similar establishments in the city which are open to the public to celebrate certain events or occasions. The people in these gatherings are reportedly not observing the minimum public health standards.

Over the weekend, Cagayan de Oro recorded 147 new cases, one of which is a locally stranded individual and 146 are local transmissions.

This brought the total coronavirus infections to 6,469 and increased the active cases to 1,006.

Barangay Carmen logs highest number of cases, Covid-19 deaths

BARANGAY Carmen remained to be the village with the most number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases and Covid-related deaths in Cagayan de Oro, recording a total case count of 829 and 28 total deaths.

But Carmen is one of the areas in the city with the lowest case fatality rate, which was at 3.38 percent.

Following Carmen are Barangay Lapasan with 24 deaths; Barangay Gusa with 17; Barangay Balulang, 17; Barangay Bulua, 16; Barangay Macabalan, 15; Barangay Bugo, 14; Barangay Camaman-an, 14; Barangay Patag, 13; Barangay Kauswagan, 12; Barangay Puntod, 11; Barangay Tablon, 11; and Barangay Lumbia, 10.

The village with the highest case fatality rate in Cagayan de Oro remained to be Barangay Puntod at 11.11 percent.

The barangay with the second-highest case fatality rate was Barangay Macabalan at 8.29 percent, followed by Barangays Tablon (7.59 percent), Lapasan (6.90 percent), Camaman-an (6.01 percent), Gusa (5.48 percent), and Bugo (5.11 percent).

Barangays with case fatality rate less than five percent are Barangays Bulua (4.61 percent), Patag (4.51 percent), Balulang (4.26 percent), Lumbia (4.20 percent), Carmen (3.38 percent), and Kauswagan (2.22 percent).

Barangay Carmen has the most number of Covid-19 cases in the city at 829.

The rest of the villages are Barangay Kauswagan with 541 cases; Barangay Balulang, 399; Barangay Lapasan, 348; Barangay Bulua, 247; Barangay Gusa, 310; Barangay Patag, 288; Barangay Bugo, 274; Barangay Lumbia, 238; Barangay Camaman-an, 233; Barangay Macabalan, 181; Barangay Tablon, 145; and Barangay Puntod, 99.

Cagayan de Oro records 147 new Covid-19 cases over the weekend

THE Cagayan de Oro City Health Office logged 147 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases over the weekend, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 6,469.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 147 new cases, one is a locally stranded individual (LSI), 37 are close contacts of previously confirmed cases, 63 are local index cases, 14 are local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), six are Apors with link, 22 are persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), and four deaths.

Of the 6,469 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 439 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 6,030 cases were local transmissions.

Cagayan de Oro recorded 1,006 active cases, 276 of whom are currently admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, and 730 are outpatients.

Cagayan de Oro also registered 96 new coronavirus-positive persons who were tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 5,188, with an 80.19-percent recovery rate.

Of the figure, 313 are LSIs, 124 are ROFs, and 4,751 are local cases (community: 4,032; Apors: 719).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is now at 275.
