Solutions Showcase TOPx

The Census Open Innovation Labs, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, invites you to a virtual event on Tuesday, May 25, to explore digital products designed to address COVID-19 pandemic-related diagnostic challenges.

The event will showcase digital products created through the COVID-19 TOPx Technology Development Sprint with input from leading government and industry experts. TOPx, modeled on The Opportunity Project (TOP), is an innovation program led by the Census Open Innovation Labs at the U.S. Census Bureau. Through technology development sprints, TOPx engages government, technology experts, and communities to co-create digital products for the public using federal open data.

Streamlining the Sharing of COVID-19 Test Results

In the midst of a global pandemic, diagnostic results from COVID-19 testing are crucial for decision-making at all levels, from school boards and doctors to employers and local government officials.

However, diagnostic devices particularly from rapid at-home, over-the-counter testing and COVID-19 test results have not yet been paired with digital software tools to easily transmit the information.

To focus on this national challenge, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with the Census Bureau, facilitated a COVID-19 TOPx tech sprint to help develop innovative digital solutions for data capture, harmonization and reporting from COVID-19 tests.

These estimates are a powerful way to assess the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable populations within every neighborhood in the United States and help plan for future health and weather-related disasters.
