Presented by Morgan Stanley       By Rachel Hatzipanagos  Email As Americans return to "normal" post-pandemic life, for some it can be easy to forget that just a year ago the country was celebrating essential workers — the grocery store employees and delivery drivers that made life easier for the work-from-home crowd. But the families of those workers, many of whom could not avoid coming into close contact with the public while the virus raged, can't move on so quickly. They are still grieving the lives of their relatives, many of whom were immigrants, who died of covid-19. Now, portraits of the lost loved ones are hanging just blocks from the White House, in colorful paintings that draw the eye to people who spent much of their lives being overlooked. Washington Post columnist Theresa Vargas spoke with the artist, Paola Mendoza, about her work, which she hopes will inspire people to learn more about immigrants' lives. Also in this edition, freelance writer Sarah Enelow-Snyder on how descendants are pushing plantations that enslaved their ancestors to make amends and television producer Dan Kohler on why the Food Network tried to keep the word "slavery" off the air.
