Elissa, Dawn, Madeline and Ron Charles enjoying dinner at California Pizza Kitchen because they're in California. (Ron Charles/The Washington Post) | Ron Charles is on vacation with his family in the Bay Area. His wife said if he tried to work this week, she would divorce him or kill him. (She loves a mystery!) So, he's writing this short note to you in the third person to pretend that he doesn't have access to a computer. But just because Ron's taking the week off (under duress) doesn't mean you have to miss all the great book coverage in The Washington Post. Below, you'll find the latest reviews, an interview with Nobel Prize-winner Kazuo Ishiguro, advice on (not) organizing your personal library and an excerpt from an explosive new book by Damian Paletta and Yasmeen Abutaleb called "Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration's Response to the Pandemic That Changed History." Meanwhile, the Charles family hopes your summer is off to a great start. Elissa is listening to all her favorite books, like "George and Martha" and "Frog and Toad." Madeline is reading Michelle Zauner's memoir, "Crying in H Mart," which is one of The Post's 20 Books to Read this Summer (full list). Dawn is enjoying Zakiya Dalila Harris's wickedly clever debut novel, "The Other Black Girl" (review). And Ron is sneaking in a little work by reading Francine Prose's upcoming novel, "The Vixen," which he'll tell you about when he gets back to Washington, D.C. next week. If you have any questions or comments about The Washington Post's book coverage, send a note to ron.charles@washpost.com. (He'll see it when he gets home.)
