Curran names 10 people to new police diversity committee
The Nassau County executive created the committee to overhaul the police department hiring process after Newsday reported both of LI's large police departments remain overwhelmingly white despite decades of federal oversight designed to diversify the ranks. 
Memorials honoring Catholic priests named in abuse cases removed
Both men, who had ministered on Long Island, are on a list of 101 clerics that the Diocese of Rockville Centre had listed as credibly accused in sexual abuse cases. One had a street named after him and another was the subject of a commemorative plaque.
