Oro mayor joins in mourning death of PNoy

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno joined the thousands of Filipinos who mourned the passing of former President Benigno "Nonoy" Aquino III who died Thursday morning, June 24, 2021.

"I was really shocked when I learned about his passing. He was young, 61, and still with his experience and ang iyang dedication, commitment pagpangalagad sa katawhan. Daghan pa mga katuigan unta nga iyang mahatag sa katawhan as a states man sa atong nasod," Moreno said.

Moreno, who was Aquino's colleague during his term as congressman from 1998 to 2004, said even as early as 1998, everyone could see the former president's high sense of commitment and dedication to the people of the Philippines.

"We have known each other that long already as colleagues in the lower house. Daghan among mga interactions and even as early as then, makita nimo ang iyang very high sense of commitment and dedication sa katawhan," Moreno said.

"We thank him for his service, dili lang sa province of Tarlac but also sa atong nasod," he added.

Aquino, also known as PNoy, died at 61. He was undergoing dialysis when he had a heart attack.

He was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City early Thursday morning.

Moreno, on the same day, ordered that the city hall's flag be flown at half-mast as a show of respect to the late president.

"We pray for him and we wish him a good journey to the life beyond," Moreno said.

Carmen records most number of active cases in Oro

BARANGAY Carmen is the village with the most active cases in Cagayan de Oro as of Wednesday, June 23, recording a total of 155 active cases.

The total number of active cases in the city has reached 1,234, of which 323 were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and other hospitals in the city, and 911 were outpatients.

According to the report of city epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, following Barangay Carmen are barangays Kasuwagan, recording 123 active cases; Balulang with 75 active cases; Iponan with 70 cases; Lumbia with 69 cases; Bulua with 67 cases; Patag with 59 cases; Macasandig with 58 cases; Gusa with 57 cases; and Lapasan with 55 cases.

Meanwhile, the total confirmed Covid-19 cases of local government unit employees as of June 23 was now at 238, of which 19 were active cases and 219 were recoveries.

The recovered Covid-positive employees were sent home and back to work after some of them had their repeat swab test resulted negative while the others were considered certified recovered.

Cagayan de Oro logs 90 more Covid-19 cases

THE City Health Office of Cagayan de Oro reported on Thursday, June 24, 90 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases of 9,652.

Of the 90 new cases, 51 were local index cases, 25 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, six were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), four were Apors with link, and four mortalities.

Cagayan de Oro recorded 1,234 active cases, 323 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and other hospitals in the city and 911 were outpatients.

The city also registered 221 new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered." This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 7,986.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was now at 432.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-positive individuals in Cagayan de Oro was now at 746, city epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported.

According to Retuya, of the 746 vaccinees, 519 were vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine, 208 were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, 10 with Pfizer, six with Sputnik V, and three Sinopharm.

Of the 519 Covid-positive Sinovac vaccinees, 376 individuals experienced mild symptoms, 116 were asymptomatic, 24 were moderate cases, and three were severe cases.

Among the 208 AstraZeneca vaccinees, 138 individuals had mild symptoms, 50 were asymptomatic, 19 had moderate symptoms, and one was a severe case.
