Australian national found dead in Tacloban Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:54 AM PDT A 76-YEAR-OLD Australian national who was suffering from suspected skin cancer was found dead inside a hotel in Tacloban City Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Police said Rodney Waldeck, a resident of Adelaide, South Australia and with a Philippine address in Guiuan, Eastern Samar, was already lifeless when he was discovered by his wife about 5 a.m. Tuesday. The couple, together with their driver, had stayed at the hotel on Monday afternoon, June 28, for their scheduled doctor consultation at a private hospital the following day, police said in the report. According to the wife, her husband had been on medication for his ailment. Bureau of Fire Protection's Emergency Medical Services personnel also rushed to the scene to check his vital signs. The body was later brought to Tacloban City Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Jed Palomo, the attending physician. The patient died of natural causes, according to the police. Rape suspect, 16, nabbed in Biliran Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:53 AM PDT POLICE arrested a 16-year-old out of school youth for a string of rape charges in Naval, Biliran Tuesday, June 29, 2021. The suspect, who is a resident of Ormoc City, was rounded around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barangay Catmon, Naval. Operating units of Ormoc City Police Office and Naval Municipal Police Station nabbed the teenager by virtue of a warrant dated June 28, 2021. Honorable Girlie Borrel Yu, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court-Branch 35 in Ormoc City, did not recommend a bail to the accused. He was brought to Ormoc City Police Station 1 for documentation prior to turning over to the court of origin. 1 dead, 4 hospitalized in police training Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:01 AM PDT ONE police trainee died while four others were hospitalized after they fainted during their "21K Graduation run" in Tacloban City Wednesday, June 30, 2021. In the information released by the Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas, it said that police trainee Kit Adrian Balais was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed at the end of the drill about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. He was pronounced dead by the attending physician around 1:30 p.m. of the same day. The other four trainees from Class 2020-04 Alpha-Foxtrot have remained at the hospital for further treatment and evaluation. They were identified as Alro Melvin Ardivilla, Japhet Sulibaga, Neil John Barcellano, and Mark Joseph Petagara. Authorities are investigating the incident.
