This wild concept car snaps together like Ikea furniture

After decades of speculation, we know that electric cars are finally here to stay. Every big car company in the world is pivoting from gasoline engines. But what if it wasn’t just the car companies that chose to build electric cars? What if a company like Ikea got involved?

That’s the vision behind a new concept car created by Ryan Schlotthauer, a recent graduate of the College of Creative Studies in Detroit. He has imagined what it would look like if the world’s largest furniture company, known for flatpacking just about every conceivable design into a few boxes, gave the same treatment to a small car.

And while it’s pure speculation, Schlotthauer’s vision of a car that arrives at your door for you to assemble yourself is both plausible and desirable. It’s your move, Ikea. See the project here.
