According to the surrenderers, they wanted to quit the organization for a long time due to the hardships and hunger they endured. However, they were always stopped by their leaders.

"Wala pa ni sya maburos sir, nagplano na gyud ko na mubaba na. Nananghid na ko muoli. Sa upat katuig nakong pag uban sa armado, wala gyud ko gitugtan na makauli or bisan pa maistorya akong pamilya. "Lisod gyud kaayo ang among panginabuhi sa taas. Ug dugay na gyud namo nahuna hunaan pero kay dili man gyud tugtan maong niambak gyud mi ug dagan hangtod makapangayo ug tabang sa among panurender," he added.

Lieutenant Colonel Ricky Canatoy, 58IB commanding officer, lauded the seven former rebels for their decision to surrender, praising their bravery and courage in leaving the revolutionary movement.

He also hoped that the remaining NPA members in Misamis Orietal would do the same.

"Come down right now and take advantage of the government's programs and services. This is for your own welfare as well as the future of your family. Return to the folds of the law and begin living in peace within your communities," Canatoy said.

At present, the seven former rebels are in the custody of 58IB until their enrollment to Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program is processed.

Sanya Lopez empathizes with her character in ‘Wish Ko Lang'

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 05:22 AM PDT

SANYA Lopez cannot imagine being in the shoes of her character in the next episode of Wish Ko Lang airing this Saturday, July 31, 2021, as part of the month-long 19th anniversary specials of the GMA Public Affairs program.

Joining Sanya are Rita Avila, Anjo Damiles, Arny Ross, Yesh Burce and Pipay.

"Masakit bilang isang anak at tao na hindi ka makilala ng sarili mong ina," says Sanya.

In the story "To Love Again," the Kapuso actress plays the daughter of Rita. Rita's character has Alzheimer's disease and Sanya will do everything for her—even if it means pretending to be back with her ex-husband, portrayed by Anjo Damiles.

Prior to Teresa's (Rita) sickness, the relationship of the married young couple Yasmin (Sanya) and Rex (Anjo) already ended because of Yasmin's best friend Sophie (Arny). One of the most affected of the separation was Teresa, who has grown fond of her son-in-law.

Four years later, Rex has started a new life with Sophie. But they have yet to marry because Rex and Yasmin's annulment is still ongoing.

One day, Yasmin returns to Rex's life to seek his help. Her mother, now at death's door because of her condition, is looking for Rex. She can only remember the memories of Yasmin and Rex living together happily.

Yasmin sees how Rex tries his best to make up for what he did in the past. Rex, on the other hand, realizes his mistake of letting go of a woman as great as Yasmin and gets attracted to his ex-wife again. Still doubtful, Yasmin is tempted to take revenge but eventually the couple rekindles their relationship.

Can the two really get another shot at love? But what about Sophie? What will she do when she finds out about Yasmin and Rex?

After starring in the rom-com series "First Yaya," Sanya says she welcomes this project with Wish Ko Lang. "Ang masasabi ko ngayon, naninibago ulit ako. Dahil na-miss ko na ito, ngayon na lang ulit ako bumalik sa ganitong klase ng tema na ipinapalabas. Napakaganda ng role and palaban, gustong-gusto ko," she shares.

Meanwhile, Rita has a lot of firsts in this episode. "First time ko magkaroon ng character na may Alzheimer's disease [kaya] nagtanong-tanong ako sa mga kaibigan ko sa pag-aalaga ng taong may ganun. And it's my first time to work with Sanya."

"Ang pangalan po ng character ko rito ay Rex, isa po siyang mabait na tao at supportive na asawa," says Anjo. "Kaya lang may mga temptations na dumadating. At 'yun po ang naging dahilan bakit sila naghiwalay ni Yasmin."

"Napaka-delikado ni Sophie," says Arny of her character. "Na-obsess siya. Excited ako gawin ang episode na ito."

The episode is directed by Rommel Penesa, headwritten by Erwin Caezar Bravo, and written by Evie Macapugay. Crystal Paras sang the theme song entitled "Ako na lang Sana."

Catch "To Love Again," the last installment to the month-long 19th anniversary specials of Wish Ko Lang with host Vicky Morales this Saturday, July 31 after Tadhana on GMA.

Kapuso abroad can also catch it on GMA Pinoy TV. For more updates about GMA Network, visit www.gmanetwork.com. (PR)
