| Oro epidemiologist on vaccine hesitancy: Covid vaccines give ample protection Posted: 22 Jul 2021 04:46 AM PDT ALL Covid-19 vaccines provide enough protection against the novel coronavirus, decreasing the chances of having severe to critical symptoms, city epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said, addressing the issue of vaccine hesitancy. According to Retuya, the data gathered by the City Health Office shows that despite testing positive for coronavirus, most Covid-positive vaccinees have moderate to mild symptoms. "Klaro karon sa atong mga datos nga dunay ikahatag nga proteksyon ang atong mga bakuna bisan pa man naay mga natakdan gyapon, pero definitely ang mga sintomas nga ginapakita sa mga bakunado is definitely lighter," Retuya said. "Ang atong vaccines nga available are all disease modifying. Definitely mo-minus ang mga kaso nga severe, critical, ug mortalities," he added. Retuya further said all Covid-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization were granted the emergency use authorization. "Buot pasabot, puwede syang gamiton karon ug di na ta maghulat. Dili man ta abunda sa atong mga bakuna nga makapili ta og kanus-a," Retuya said. "Katong mga hesitant, kanus-a pa man sila magpabakuna?" He added. The city epidemiologist encouraged those among the A2 and A3 categories, the senior citizens and persons with comorbidities, to get vaccinated. As of July 21, 2021, 41,361 senior citizens received their doses of the Covid-19 vaccines while 38,190 were persons with comorbidities. Cagayan de Oro recorded a total of 109,341 vaccinated individuals as of July 21. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
