A $3 billion maintenance backlog threatens U.S. diplomacy

 
The U.S. State Department has diplomats and intelligence officers stationed around the world in more than 8,000 buildings and structures. According to a new report, a troubling amount of this real estate is poorly maintained, and this threatens the government's diplomatic missions -- and potentially the safety of officers and ambassadors.
