Keep it light at home with Horoyoi, Japan's #1 3% alcoholic drink

Posted: 02 Sep 2021 02:31 AM PDT

OVER the past year, we've gotten so used to staying in on our Friday nights and weekends that it can sometimes get dull and boring, especially when we're away from our family and friends. Luckily, there are still ways for us to stay connected and have fun at home even when we're not physically together -- from hosting watch parties and binging on the latest shows, taking an online class to learn a new hobby, or even organizing virtual game nights and hangouts. We're never short of options when we need to kick back and relax at home and now, these can be made even more fun when paired with our favorite snacks and the perfect ready-to-drink beverage that is flavorful but with just the right amount of buzz.

Where exactly would you find this sort of drink?

Look no further than the land of the rising sun. Introducing Horoyoi, a canned chu-hi beverage with just three percent alcohol content and a variety of unique and limited-edition flavors.

As Japan's #1 mild alcoholic drink, Horoyoi encourages Filipinos to make home fun again for you and your loved ones with an enjoyable and casual drinking experience.

Now available in the Philippines and distributed by leading Japanese alcohol company Beam Suntory, Horoyoi recently launched its all-new Hapikle flavor.

What exactly is hapikle?

It is a play on the words "happy" and "bikkle," a popular sour milk beverage among Japanese youth with a distinctive taste that is reminiscent of sweet probiotic dairy drinks in the Philippines.

The new Hapikle flavor from Horoyoi offers a nostalgic and indulgent taste that is an absolute must-try.

Horoyoi is the perfect guilt-free hangout essential to relax and blissfully unwind with at home. Its delectable array of year-round and seasonal flavors offer a mild and pleasant taste that is a welcome change from the bitterness of other strong liquors. Also, its low alcoholic content provides a gentle texture that is guaranteed to still give you that light drink buzz without the killer hangover the next day so you can keep your days chill and the nights sweet with every deliciously refreshing sip.

No matter the reason or occasion, drink to relax -- at your own pace and in your own time -- and make staying at home fun again with Horoyoi!

"Our combination of refreshing flavors and low alcohol content make Horoyoi the perfect ready-to-drink beverage for light and casual drinkers who simply want to have a good time. With Horoyoi, you can keep your drinking sessions light and fun, even at a distance. With our new Hapikle flavor, we are excited to offer our Filipino fans a familiar taste from their childhood concocted with a smooth and gentle buzz that they can enjoy and appreciate as adults," said Jessica Loh, Horoyoi's Digital Marketing manager for Southeast Asia.

Along with the new Hapikle flavor, Horoyoi is also available in White Grape, Red Grape, Peach, and White Sour.

Shop for Horoyoi today at your local SM, S&R, and Puregold grocery mart or order on-demand through Lazada, Boozy.ph, PandaMart, and GrabMart.

Price starts at P57.

Diner en Blanc Filipino Canadian style

Posted: 02 Sep 2021 01:23 AM PDT

THIS year, since we could not attend the annual Diner en Blanc in Vancouver, our good friend, King Buyser, decided to recreate one in his own backyard adjacent to a park. It was an all-white, outdoor, fancy dinner party reminiscent of the original Diner en Blanc that has become a phenomenon across the globe. King decided to recreate his own by inviting several of us to celebrate our own white party, with the Covid restrictions softening because of the cases going down in this city. In the real Diner en Blanc, guests arrive from different locations throughout a city to one secret location, usually a landmark in that particular city.

In 1988, a Frenchman named Froncois Pasquier invited a group of his friends to an outdoor dinner party in Paris. The requirements were simple. Wear formal white attire, be able to enjoy good food and wine and great company. Guests were expected to exhibit elegance and proper etiquette. He did not reveal the location of the event until the last minute and this tradition remains today. It has been almost 30 years since the first Diner en Blanc. In Paris alone, Diner en Blanc hosts 15,000 people annually. It can be found in over 50 cities spanning 5 continents from Paris to New York to Vancouver.

In the real Diner en Blanc, guests are let in by invitation only. One is required to be on the guest list. The transportation going to the secret location is arranged by the organizers. No one knows until the last minute where the location will be. People are told to bring their own table, chairs, cutleries, plates and decor. There is a bus that will bring all the eager participants dressed in white to the secret location.

In the Vancouver one, you can preorder your food from the caterer if you do not want to bring your own picnic food. You can also pre-order drinks and alcohol. Everyone is expected to wear their most stunning white ensemble. There is napkin waving, lighting of sparklers in every Diner en Blanc.

In King's edition, we did not have to bring white chairs, white tablecloths, white tables, as King and his friends Leanne, Natalie, Magali, Claudette were in charge of recreating the white ambience with their creativity and resourcefulness. As guests, that was one load off our backs as we did not have to bring the hardware.

We all chipped in for paella, as well as King had a professional cook make the paella. We were all encouraged to bring other meals for the potluck.

It was a night of good food, delicious paella, overflowing drinks as outdoor tivoli lights, a hammock, candles and bright stars made this night a beautiful summer night. A multicultural gathering of people who share the love for great food, awesome company and a welcome respite from the social restrictions of the year that passed.
