13 more Delta variant cases detected in Cagayan de Oro

THIRTEEN additional Delta variant cases were detected in Cagayan de Oro, City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu reported on Monday, September 6.

This brought the cumulative number of Delta variant cases in the city to 71.

According to Yu, of the 13 new Delta cases, eight were males and five were females.

He added that six samples were obtained on August 1 to 3, while the other seven samples were collected on August 14 to 17.

Of the 13 new Delta variant cases, three were residents of Barangay Gusa, three from Barangay Lumbia, two from Barangay Balulang, one from Barangay Canitoan, one from Barangay Tablon, one from Barangay Carmen, one from Barangay Macasandig, and one from Barangay 24.

Yu said that of the three Delta cases from Barangay Gusa, two are related and living in the same household. Also, two of the three Delta variants from Barangay Lumbia are living in the same residence.

Yu said the City Health Office has already started the extraction process of these Delta variant cases from their residences.

265 new Covid-19 cases in Oro over the weekend

THE City Health Office of Cagayan de Oro has noted a continuous rise in the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, as the city logged 265 infections over the weekend.

The cumulative confirmed cases in the city have reached 17,834.

The City Health Office said that among the 265 cases, one was a locally stranded individual (LSI) and 264 were local transmissions.

Of the 264 new cases, 139 were local index cases, 66 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, 31 were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), 12 were Apors with link, seven were persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), and nine were mortalities.

The active cases in Cagayan de Oro have reached 3,621, of which 896 were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 2,711 were outpatients, and 14 were ROFs/LSIs.

Cagayan de Oro also registered 112 new coronavirus-positive persons who were tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 13,451.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was now at 762.

Meanwhile, the total number of vaccinees who tested positive for the virus in Cagayan de Oro has reached 3,849, the City Health Office reported.

It added that of the 3,849 vaccinees, 2,413 were vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine, 725 were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, 254 with Pfizer, 225 were vaccinated with Sputnik V, 219 were vaccinated with Janssen, nine were vaccinated with Moderna, and four were vaccinated with Sinopharm.

Of the 2,413 Covid-positive Sinovac vaccinees, 1,914 individuals were experiencing mild symptoms, 341 were asymptomatic, 151 had moderate symptoms and seven were severe cases.

Among the 725 AstraZeneca vaccinees, 539 individuals had mild symptoms, 133 were asymptomatic, 49 had moderate symptoms and four were severe cases.
