Cagayan de Oro under Alert 2 starting Nov. 1

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 05:04 AM PDT

BEGINNING November 1 until November 14, 2021, Cagayan de Oro will be under Alert Level 2.

Under Alert Level 2, establishments are allowed to operate indoors at 50 percent capacity, with additional 10 percent capacity if they have a Safety Seal and 70 percent capacity for outdoors.

Mayor Oscar Moreno explained that the Alert Level System is focused on the 3Cs, namely the crowded areas, close contacts, and closed environment.

"Ang Alert Level mag-agad pud sa severity (The Alert Level System will be based on the severity) of the transmission rate, average daily attack rate, two-week growth rate, and availability sa isolation beds and ICU beds," Moreno said.

"One thing to note ning bag-ong sistema, there is greater flexibility sa LGU. Pero sa akong pagsabot, greater flexibility carries with it greater responsibility," he added.

The city mayor believed that the purpose of the implementation of the Alert Level System is to give some space for the economy to pick up.

"Pero kinahanglan di gyud gihapon nato isakripisyo ang atong public health. Ang minimum public health standards applicable pa gihapon sa tanang panahon sa tanang lugar (But we should not be complacent. The minimum public health standard should be followed all the time)," Moreno said.

Apart from Cagayan de Oro City, other areas in Northern Mindanao under Alert Level 2 are Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Camiguin, and Iligan City.
