| Fire victims received aid from DA employees Posted: 23 Oct 2021 05:37 AM PDT THE Department of Agriculture-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (Amad) conducted an outreach mission Saturday, October 23, 2021, that benefitted 100 families who are fire victims in Recodo village, Zamboanga City. Amad Chief Marissa Mohammad said the beneficiaries received food relief packs and hygiene kits. Mohammad said the assorted fresh vegetables worth P6,000 were turned over to the officials of Recodo village since the fire victims do not have a kitchen to prepare the meals. "We are in tandem with the DA Employees' Association (DAEA), and DA Multipurpose Cooperative (DAMPC) in this community outreach activity. We delivered a total of 50 kilograms (kg) of squash, 25 kg eggplant, 50 bundles of string beans and three sacks of sayote, which have been purchased from our DA–Kadiwa farmer partners. Our grocery bag contains NFA rice, brown sugar, coffee, bihon noodles, soy sauce and vinegar," said Mohammad, who is also the DAEA president. DAMPC Chairperson Jose Jacinto Antonio expressed concerns about the situation of the victims. "We have solicited support from among our members and prepared hygiene kits for the families here in Barangay Recodo, some face masks, and other sanitizing effects to at least keep them clean in some manner. Thank you to our member employees as we take part in the solutions to battle the Covid-19 in the city," Antonio said. Reports showed that about 300 houses were razed during the fire in Recodo past midnight on October 13, 2021. Naval Forces Western Mindanao reservists assisted the DA-Zamboanga Peninsula management, DAEA and DAMPC in the distribution of the goods, and some young agriculture volunteers.
