| "What could be more of a miracle than restoring sight to the blind?" asks Nicholas Kristof. "That might sound biblical or supernatural," he continues. "But for this year's holidays, you can give your cousin a scarf — or in that cousin's name you can restore someone's eyesight." For many years, Nick has written a unique sort of giving guide, highlighting a few nonprofit organizations that are doing extraordinary things in the United States or beyond. The guide appeared every year in the New York Times, where Nick was a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist. He has now left the Times to run for governor in Oregon, but he thought this was a tradition worth upholding, and we agreed. Whether or not you are inclined to donate some money or some time, I think you'll find his guide inspiring and informative. Thanks as always for reading. |
