New York City welcomed the new year — and bid good riddance to 2021 — as confetti and cheers spread across Times Square as a New Year's Eve tradition returned to a city beleaguered by a global pandemic.

Nassau to give out 40G covid test kits, new county exec says
County Executive-elect Bruce Blakeman says Nassau will distribute 20,000 testing kits, with two tests in each kit, Saturday and again Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Coliseum parking lot in Uniondale.
New Suffolk police commissioner says he may release 911 calls in Gilgo Beach killings
"As long as it doesn't impede the investigation, I will be sharing those audiotapes to the public," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said after touring Oak Beach, one of the sites key to the homicide probe.
