State of emergency declared beginning tonight

Hochul declares state of emergency beginning tonight ahead of expected snowstorm
Metorologist Bill Korbel says things have started to come together for this weekend's storm, with a winter storm warning up for all of Long Island and a blizzard warning for Suffolk. Also, the LIRR will shut down overnight, ahead of the worst of it.

Governor extends mask mandate for indoor public places to Feb. 10
Gov. Kathy Hochul, speaking in Melville on Friday, said she has decided to continue the mandate because, while COVID-19 indicators are improving, they still do not warrant lifting the regulation.
