Fisherman rescued, another missing off Sulu Posted: 14 Mar 2022 03:44 AM PDT A FISHERMAN was rescued, while another went missing as their fishing motorboat capsized off Sulu Sea, the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) reported Monday, March 14, 2022.Rescued was Shaider Ismael, 32, while his brother, Maser, 20, remained missing. They are residents of Maluso, Basilan province.Ismael was rescued around 4 a.m. Friday, March 11, by the crew of the Pia-Zarah 16 of the Victory Fishing Corporation off Bolod Island, Sulu.The crew of Pia-Zarah 16 happened to be members of the NFWM Special Cafgu Auxiliary (SCAA) who serve as force multipliers of the Navy and contribute to monitoring the situation in the maritime environment."They (SCAA) have been very helpful in rescue operations, information gathering, and in reporting suspicious activities in the areas where their boats are located," the NFWM Public Affairs Office said in a statement Monday, March 14.Ismael was turned over by Pia-Zara 16 crewmen to the BRP-Florencio Iñigo (PC-393) personnel, who later handed him over to the representatives of the Philippine Coast Guard and Municipal Government of Luuk, Sulu.The Naval Task Group-Sulu has deployed PC-393 to conduct follow-up search and rescue operations for Ismael's missing brother. Number 8 most wanted person in Siayan nabbed Posted: 14 Mar 2022 03:44 AM PDT LAWMEN have arrested one of the most wanted persons in the municipality of Siayan, Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, March 14, 2022.Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the arrested suspect as Bennie Sumukla Arapon, alias Loring, 51, the number eight most wanted person in Siayan town.Albarico said that Arapon was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of warrant of arrest around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13, in Purok 4, Bibilop, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.He said Arapon has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail dated April 13, 2009 issued by the court of Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.He said the arrested wanted person was placed under the temporary custody of the Midsalip Municipal Police Station prior to his turnover to court authorities for proper disposition. Barmm builds public market in Maguindanao town Posted: 14 Mar 2022 03:33 AM PDT THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) is constructing a P25-million public market in Barira, Maguindanao to boost the local economic growth and enhance government service in the town.Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, Barmm's Minister of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), led Friday, March 11, the groundbreaking ceremony signaling the start of the construction of the public market.Sinarimbo said the infrastructure project is funded under the Bangsamoro Local Economic Support Services (Bless) program to provide and ameliorate local economic enterprise infrastructure and supports facilities of the Local Government Units (LGUs) across Barmm.Sinarimbo said the new public market is expected to operate and maintain income-generating enterprise support to spur local economic growth and activities, and offer opportunities to constituents in the town of Barira."This project will provide a suitable public market as well as its neighboring towns and we want the LGU to generate its capacities to have an additional source of income," Sinarimbo said.Meanwhile, Barira Vice Mayor Bahrain Dagalangit expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of the Barmm government."The project provided by MILG-Barmm, together with all the road projects and other infrastructure, has helped our people of Barira which was one of the affected towns during the war," Dagalangit said."The sacrifice of the lives of our parents and Mujahideen is now being replaced by the implementation of various projects to improve the lives of the Bangsamoro," he added.
