Navigating cities and airports could soon be like playing ‘Mario Kart’

GPS is a tool that's familiar to anyone with a smartphone. Crucial for navigating unfamiliar territory,  it has become essential for getting from Point A to Point B.

But GPS also has its shortcomings. Because it relies on signals from satellites, GPS can get blocked by tall buildings. And within those tall buildings, it's essentially useless; GPS sees the world as one flat plane.

Pointr, a mapping and navigation company, has an alternative. Relying on smart sensors, Pointr's maps can provide step-by-step navigation inside super-dense cities and the tall, complicated buildings within them. Add a layer of augmented reality, and Pointr's phone app makes navigating through a city feel more like a video game.

Read my article to see how this technology is going where GPS can't.
