Samsung's latest smartphone is getting its first post-release discount at Best Buy | Plus, one of HP's most powerful gaming laptops is matching its lowest price ever | | | If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement. | | | Today is April Fools' Day, so we'd encourage you to take any news you see today with a grain of salt. However, we can assure you that our deals team at The Verge has done its homework and that the discounts featured in this week's newsletter are, in fact, the real deal (pun totally intended). Right now, for instance, Best Buy is taking $100 off an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S22, which is the first discount we've seen on the terrific flagship since it launched in February. The discount applies to both the 128GB and 256GB configurations, dropping the price of the entry-level model to $699.99 and the larger configuration to $749.99. This is an excellent opportunity to upgrade to what we consider to be the default phone for Android users. Another sale to keep tabs on this weekend is the current discount on the excellent HP Pavilion Aero 13 laptop, which is down to just $749.99 via HP's online storefront. MSI's 32-inch gaming monitor is also revisiting its all-time low of $289.99 at Adorama, making it an excellent value for anyone that's shopping for a 1440p, 144Hz display. Below, we've rounded up those deals and plenty of other awesome sales for you to check out this weekend. So read on, keep your wits about you, and we'll be back on Wednesday with more spicy discounts. | | | We're kicking off April Fools' Day with a deal that's dead serious. Today only, Best Buy is knocking $100 off the price of the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S22, with the 128GB and 256GB models going for $699.99 and $749.99, respectively. Just note that this discount only applies to the standard S22, not the S22 Plus or S22 Ultra. You don't have to activate this phone when you purchase it, either; just make sure to select "activate later" before adding the smartphone to your cart. The S22 features an impressive array of specs, including a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 50MP main rear camera that can deliver impressive results, and a 10MP front-facing camera. With features like these and more, it's no wonder that we consider the Galaxy S22 to be one of the best phones for Android users, despite its less-than-stellar battery life. Overall, this is an excellent deal on a speedy phone with outstanding build quality. Typically $999.99, you can currently grab it in a capable configuration on the HP store for just $749.99, its lowest price to date. The lightweight, 13-inch HP Pavilion Aero is a Pavilion in name only, boasting excellent specs and build quality at a competitive price point. This model of the Aero 13 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5800U processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage out of the box, with the option of adding up to an additional 1TB using a microSD card. While its reliance on integrated AMD graphics means it can't handle much in the way of gaming, the laptop's octa-core CPU means that the Aero 13 should be able to handle a variety of applications. While it isn't a dealbreaker at this price, it's worth noting that the Aero 13 comes with a significant amount of bloatware pre-installed, which will supply an egregious number of pop-ups until you uninstall all of it. Read our review. | | | | | $749.99 $999.99 25% off Prices taken at time of publishing. | Similar in many ways to the more expensive Envy x360 13, the HP Pavilion Aero 13 is a high-quality budget laptop that's both incredibly light and powerful. | | | Gaming monitor deals that are this good don't come around every day. Right now, the MSI Optix 32-inch curved QHD gaming monitor is matching its best price ever. This particular display usually sells for $359.99, but it's on sale at Amazon for $289.99. Currently, this is one of the best prices you can find for a gaming monitor with these specs, especially from a brand like MSI. MSI's MAG321CQR, as it's officially called, is equipped with many of the features you'd expect from a mid-range gaming monitor. This includes 1440p resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time, and AMD FreeSync adaptive sync support for AMD GPUs, which come together to create a gaming experience that should look great and run smoothly. The back of the monitor is also equipped with RGB lighting, but more importantly, it has a wide variety of connectivity options. It includes a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DisplayPort hookup, a pair of USB-A passthrough ports with the option for data transfer, and a 3.5mm audio jack. While the monitor is compatible with VESA mounts, the stand it comes packaged with is height, tilt, and swivel adjustable. | | | | | $289.99 $359.99 20% off Prices taken at time of publishing. | This 32-inch, curved gaming panel from MSI boasts 1440p resolution and refresh rates of up to 144Hz. The monitor also features a 1ms response time and is compatible with AMD FreeSync. | | | Professional gaming laptops aren't particularly cheap, however, Amazon's current deal on the Gigabyte Aorus 15P definitely takes some of the edge off. Typically, this configuration — which includes an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and an RTX 3060 — retails $1,599, but Amazon has discounted it to $1,299.99, matching one of the lowest price we've seen on the laptop. The Aorus 15P sports a 15-inch, 1080p panel with a blistering-fast 240Hz refresh rate. This allows the 15P to make the most out of its powerful hardware, which provides more than enough power to tackle most modern games with ease. The solid collection of hardware is supplemented by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, along with an array of connectivity ports. This includes three USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a full-size SD card slot, an Ethernet port, and a single USB-C port for charging and data transfer. It also offers an HDMI port, in the event you want to hook it up to an external monitor. Just note that this will place additional strain on the GPU and may impact overall performance. | | | | | $1,299.99 $1,599 19% off Prices taken at time of publishing. | This 15-inch laptop from Gigabyte features an 11th-gen Intel CPU and a Nvidia RTX 3060 for top-tier gaming performance. | | | More great deals happening this weekend - It's not a deal, per se, but if you've been trying to pick up Microsoft's next-gen gaming console, you can apparently buy it for $499.99 right now at Amazon or Walmart — like, no joke. The only catch is that the console is currently restricted to Prime members on Amazon. Read our review.
- Samsung is running a preorder promotion on its new line of smart monitors. Currently, you can get a $100 Samsung gift card to use on a future purchase when you preorder the M8 ($699.99), M7 ($369.99) or M5 ($249.99) from Samsung.

If you're in need of a password manager, 1Password is offering Verge readers a 60 percent discount on a one-year subscription to an individual or family account. The offer is only available to new users, however, not returning account holders. If it's just you who needs to be set up with 1Password, you'll pay about $14.40 for a year of individual service instead of $36. The family plan costs a little more with this discount, but it's still just $24 for a year of service, which isn't bad considering it covers five people. | | | Vox Media has affiliate partnerships.
