'Alakdan' shooters commended

MAJOR General Ignatius Patrimonio, 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division commander, has commended the members of the "Alakdan Shooting Team" of their achievements in the recently concluded Philippine Army Marksmanship Assessment and Evaluation (PAMAE) 2022.Patrimonio noted that the Alakdan Shooting Team showcased their marksmanship skills in the PAMAE 2022 that concluded on Friday, April 29, at Camp Major Cesar Sang-an, home of the 1st Infantry Division headquarters in Upper Pulacan village, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur."The Alakdan Shooters bagged awards on Rifle Falling Plates and Machine Gun Falling Plates category, and placed second on Pistol Male Falling Plates and Pistol Ladies Falling Plates categories," said Colonel Jose Leomar Doctolero, 11th Division Training School commandant.Doctolero said that Sergeant Michael Amador, Corporal Julius Balao-as, Private First Class (PFC) Astevez Leonor, and Private Dexter Portalio ranked number three in Rifle Falling Plates category.PFC Edwin Kayang, PFC Sherwin Kenneth Diawan, Private Ricky Catanus and Private Paul Cubang ranked number two in the Machinegun Falling Plates category.Corporal Rheigngold Benedict Gomez and PFC Albert Hermano ranked second in Pistol Men Falling Plates.Private Lormida Dizon and Private Harwida Arasad ranked number five in Pistol Ladies Falling Plates category.Patrimonio lauded the excellent performance of the Alakdan Shooting Team and personally conveyed his congratulations of their achievements."On behalf of the Alakdan Division, I congratulate you for a job well done! Your passion made an excellent result, which brought us to the second place despite of being the youngest Army division," Patrimonio said.The PAMAE 2022- Mindanao leg kicked-off on April 18, which was participated by five major units of the Philippine Army in Mindanao, namely, first, fourth, sixth, tenth, and eleventh infantry divisions.The event was aimed to evaluate the marksmanship skills of personnel assigned in the different Army combat units across the country. Youth leaders support candidacy of ex-lawmaker

FORMER first district congressman Celso Lobregat has welcomed the support of the youth leaders to his candidacy as mayor in the May 9 national and local elections.This, as 75 of the 98 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons committed to support Lobregat's candidacy for mayor of Zamboanga City.A manifesto of support was presented to Lobregat by Councilor Cary John Pioc, SK Federation president, in the presence of the SK-Zamboanga City federation officers and the SK chairpersons Tuesday, May 3, at Aristocrat Convention Center, Zamboanga City."We deeply appreciate the endorsement especially from youth leaders like you. Thank you for your trust and confidence," Lobregat told the youth leaders present."Indeed, we are surging and finishing very, very positive and very, very, very strong," he added.Lobregat is one of the eight candidates for mayors in the city.The others are: Vice Mayor Rommel Agan, Councilor John Dalipe, first district Representative Cesar Jimenez Jr., Dr. Cesar Climaco Jr., Karim Ismail Bahjin, Abubakar Barahama and Ephraim Ekong.Meanwhile, Lobregat urged the youth and youth leaders, as well as all the registered voters of Zamboanga City to participate in the May 9 elections and vote wisely. Vice mayoralty bet supporter unscathed in gun attack

A SUPPORTER of an incumbent municipal mayor seeking election for a lower post managed to escape unscathed in a gun attack in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Tuesday, May 3.Unscathed was Ruel Mogalin, 46, a casual employee of the Municipal Government of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said the incident happened around 8:25 a.m. Monday, May 2, in Purok 3, Langilan village, San Miguel.Albarico said investigation showed that Mogalin was driving his motorcycle on his way to work at San Miguel Municipal Hall when repeatedly shot by an unidentified man who was armed with an M-16 Armalite rifle.He said Mogalin luckily dodged and escaped unscathed.Mogalin was identified as supporter of incumbent San Miguel Mayor Angelito Martinez, who is seeking election as vice mayor.Albarico said the San Miguel Municipal Police Station is continuously conducting investigation to identify the gunman.
