| Sibugay town vice mayor's brother killed Posted: 02 May 2022 03:25 AM PDT THE brother of the second highest town official was shot and killed by a supporter of a mayoralty aspirant in one of the towns in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, May 2.Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Director, said the incident happened around 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in Guiwan village, Payao town.Larubis identified the victim as Celso Indino, Sr., 47, the brother of incumbent Vice Mayor Joel Indino.The victim was rushed but died while under treatment around 1 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.Larubis said investigation showed that Indino was shot by an unidentified gunman who is allegedly a supporter of mayoralty candidate Vicvic Gubat.He said the investigation continues to establish the identity and the arrest of the suspect. | Abu Sayyaf leader’s ‘errand’ nabbed Posted: 02 May 2022 03:14 AM PDT AN ALLEGED errand of an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) leader listed as one of the most wanted persons was arrested by lawmen in Indanan, Sulu.The police identified the arrested suspect as Alvinner Kiyara, 31, who is the fourth most wanted person in the town of Indanan, Sulu.The Indanan Municipal Police Station reported that Kiyara was arrested by a joint police and military team in a law enforcement operation by way of service of a warrant of arrest on Friday, April 29, at kilometer 4 in Tagbak village, Indanan.The Indanan police said that Kiyara has standing warrants of arrest for the crimes of double murder, double frustrated murder, and multiple attempted murder.The police said that Kiyara was an errand of ASG leader Mudzimar Sawadjaan alias Mundi Sawadjaan and the primary suspect for the killing of Police Lieutenant Sali Salim, chief of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU)-Sulu on February 12, 2020.The suspect is also allegedly involved in narco-terrorism and has been identified as an ASG coddler and supporter under the group of Al-Shariff Ajibon, who carries the aliases of Ulla and Panda.The police said that recovered from Kiyara's possession during his arrest were some 10 grams of suspected shabu, two plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves, and a caliber .45 pistol.The police said that Kiyara will also be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Law on Firearms and Ammunition.Police Brigadier General Arthur Cabalona, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) director, lauded the operating units for the successful operation against the wanted person. | ‘Bakuna’ bus deployed in Zamboanga City Posted: 02 May 2022 03:14 AM PDT MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and City Health Officer Dulce Miravite joined the Philippine Red Cross-Zamboanga chapter officials in launching Monday, May 2, the Mobile Bakuna bus in this city.The Mobile Bakuna bus of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is deployed to this city for two weeks in line with PRC's commitment to help and support the government in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) through vaccination of the eligible population.Miravite said that the bus will be deployed to strategic locations, specifically far-flung areas of villages to vaccinate residents of this city.Salazar and Miravite together with PRC-Zamboanga Chapter Administrator Josephine Fernandez and Project Bakuna Head Mylene Baidiango inspected the bus prior to its deployment.The vaccination activity as well as the schedule will be a collaborative effort of the PRC-Zamboanga chapter and the City Health Office.Meanwhile, Salazar expressed gratitude to the PRC for including this city in the Bakuna Bus deployment.
