Instagram is ablaze with designers and artists protesting the leaked abortion decision

I don’t remember the last time I saw my social media feeds as outraged as they were last night. I, like many people, tuned in for a Met Gala fashion fix. I, like many people, was blindsided by news that leaked out of the Supreme Court: An early draft of a decision showed the justices planning to overrule Roe v. Wade and, in doing so, end federal protection of abortion rights.

But by the time I woke up, people weren’t just protesting this decision in words; they were using pictures. Designers, artists, and illustrators stormed Instagram with visual rebuttals—what you might consider to be the makeshift protest signs for the digital age. The images are graphic, powerful, and heartbreaking. And they show just how devastating a ruling like this would be to people across the country. Read my story here.
