| Daniel Auster, the 44-year-old son of novelist Paul Auster, died this week after being found unconscious at a Brooklyn subway station. The cause of death was the same as what killed his 10-month-old infant, Ruby, last fall, sources said: an accidental drug overdose. Daniel had been charged in connection with the fatal overdose of his baby daughter, and it wasn't the first time he was involved in a drug-related death. He was 18 in 1996 when he was in the Hell's Kitchen apartment where infamous New York club kids Michael Alig and Robert "Freeze" Riggs murdered drug dealer Andre "Angel" Melendez — and things only got darker and more twisted from there. "I feel like the baby was the final victim of that Club Kids and drugs era," filmmaker Ramon Fernandez, who made a documentary about the murder case, told The Post. "The pull of heroin is so strong." Read the whole shocking and incredibly tragic tale below. We also have a look at this year's Met Gala (including why certain people have been crossed off Anna Wintour's guest list) and some great stories off new books — including one about why mobster Sammy "the Bull" Gravano really ratted out crime boss John Gotti.
