| Abu Sayyaf bandit arrested in Zamboanga City Posted: 27 Jun 2022 03:27 AM PDT POLICEMEN have arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf bandit and seized guns and ammunition in an intelligence-driven law enforcement operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Monday, June 27, 2022.Police Lieutenant Colonel Felix Martinez, 1st Zamboanga City Mobile Force commander, identified the arrested suspect as Ban Sali Ubbie alias Ban Mannah, 47.Martinez said Ubbie was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of search warrant operation around 8:15 p.m. Saturday in Arena Blanco village, Zamboanga City.He said the search warrant served against Ubbie, a native of Maimbung, Sulu, was for violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.Martinez said Ubbie also has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder and three counts frustrated murder dated June 2, 2009 issued by the court of Parang, Sulu.He said recovered from Ubbie were three caliber .45 pistols, a caliber .38 revolver and assorted ammunition. | Zamboanga City mayor leads last flag raising ceremony Posted: 27 Jun 2022 03:19 AM PDT ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the City Government flag raising ceremony Monday, June 27, 2022, her last as local chief executive.During the ceremony, Salazar was honored and presented with a Plaque of Recognition as Outstanding Mayor for Social Services by the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers, Incorporated through the City Social Welfare and Development Office.Salazar has recognized various personalities, her personal staff and people who helped in the conduct of the Dia del Alcalde (Mayor's Day) program during the last nine years.Her personal staff likewise presented her with a bouquet of flowers and a token of appreciation.During the ceremony, Salazar was joined by Vice Mayor Rommel Agan and Councilor Cesar Jimenez, who are also ending their terms as City Government official at noon of June 30.Salazar thanked the local government employees and officials for the support and assistance given to her as mayor for the past nine years."We had the Zamboanga siege, we fought Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) and in all our difficulties, we always protected the integrity of the City Government," she said."We pray for the new administration, we wish them (new city officials) all the very best to continue uplifting the integrity of the City Government," the mayor added.
