What will the metaverse actually look like in 5 years? This studio may have cracked it

What is the metaverse? Let’s be honest: Nobody really knows. Just imagine how Apple, Google, Meta, and others will need to play nicely together in … where exactly? Virtual reality? Augmented reality? These are the questions that have held back the dialogue around this much-hyped space.

But the design firm Argodesign—which spent two years consulting for Magic Leap—has an idea. They’ve worked through the technical aspects and the front-end interface of what a metaverse could look like in about five years. Their vision isn't just a throwaway render. It’s a deeply considered, technically feasible vision, built with a whole new set of metaphors to challenge the “files” and “folders” we use today.
