| Posted: 11 Jul 2022 06:53 AM PDT A NEW People's Army (NPA) rebel was killed in a clash with government forces in the province of Sultan Kudarat, the military reported Monday, July 11, 2022.The Joint Task Force (JTF)-Central reported that the clash happened around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, July 10, in Tibuhol village, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.The JTF-Central said the troops of the 57th Infantry Battalion were on combat operation when they clashed with a group of NPA rebels, after which the rebels fled to different directions.The task force said the troops recovered the remains of a slain NPA rebel, a Garand rifle with ammunition, a sling bag and assorted war materials at the clash site.The JTF-Central reported that a total of 44 NPA rebels were neutralized since January 2022. Of the 44, five were killed and 39 surrendered.Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command, commended the troops of JTF-Central for their resolve to end terrorism and insurgency in their area of operations.Rosario also urged them to remain steadfast and sustain the momentum of the anti-insurgency campaign. | ‘Surrenderer’ nabbed in anti-drug sting in Zamboanga Posted: 11 Jul 2022 06:51 AM PDT A DRUG surrenderer was arrested in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, July 11.Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the arrested drug surrenderer as Geordan Tagalog, 22, who works as a room boy at a hotel in Ipil town.Larubis said that Tagalog was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:35 p.m. Sunday, July 10, in Purok Gumamela in Taway village, Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay province.He said recovered from the possession of Tagalog were some P4,284 worth of suspected shabu and P520 marked money.He said the suspect was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him. | Zamboanga del Sur, Sibugay IPs get P3-M livelihood project Posted: 11 Jul 2022 06:51 AM PDT SIX Indigenous Peoples Organization (IPOs) in four ancestral domains of Zamboanga Peninsula have received cattle and carabao production livelihood projects from the Department of Agriculture, through the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) program.The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Zamboanga Peninsula said that the livelihood intervention includes Upgraded Carabaos and Cattle with veterinary supplies with a total worth of P3,072,420.The IPO recipients were the Pegumpungan Bansa Subanen de Kumalarang; Sitio 'Glab Magbunlay Association; and, Cogonan Balay Pigyunan Association Incorporated in Labangan all in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.The other three IPO recipients were the Pigbogolalan Sog G'lupa 'Pusaka' Nog Mokogulang, Incorporated in R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay Province, and the Peselubuhan Hetebuan Subanen Rin Sioton, and Peggumpungan Subanen Dito Catipan in Mabuhay, also in Zamboanga Sibugay.In the turnover program on Thursday, July 7, in R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay, the IPO conducted a ritual for a lasting partnership between the DA-Zamboanga Peninsula and the IPO, and the livelihood project will prosper for its sustainability.The ritual also signified acceptance of the IPOs of the projects given them by DA-Zamboanga Peninsula and a sign of appreciation, according to the IPO leader.The DA-Zamboanga Peninsula said the three-million livelihood intervention is part of the four million 2021 Additional Fund covering five ancestral domains with seven IPOs in the region.The DA-4K Program is focused on the development of ancestral lands and improving the lives of its IPs through the provision of various agricultural inputs, machineries, orientations and training, mobilization support, and livelihood projects. | ‘Tabak’ division get 2 new personnel Posted: 11 Jul 2022 06:51 AM PDT THE Army's 1st Infantry "Tabak" Division on Monday, July 11, 2022, welcomed the two newly assigned personnel to its command during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the Tabak grounds.The two personnel who were newly assigned to the Tabak division included Captain Swee Lin Ruinata and Master Sergeant Rorie Richi Acasio.They were welcomed by Brigadier General Jose Randolph Sino Cruz, the newly installed acting commander of the 1st Infantry Division.Ruinata, a nurse, is a member of the Technical Administrative Service Pre-Officer Training (Taspot) Class 14-2013.Ruinata was previously assigned with the 3rd Infantry Division from 2018 to 2022.Acasio served in the 1101st Infantry Brigade of the 11th Infantry Division based in Sulu.Acasio was a graduate of the US Sergeant Major Course in 2021.Meanwhile, Major Mujib Ladjabuan, the division chaplain, received the award of the Military Merit Medal and Command Plaque after serving the Tabak Division for almost seven years.Likewise, Genalyn Cruz, a midwife of the Kuta Cesar Sang-an Station Hospital, was presented a Plaque of Recognition by Sino Cruz, for her dedicated service to the Tabak Division and the Armed Forces of the Philippines for 31 years.
