| 7,145 MILF, MNLF members pass police exam Posted: 14 Jul 2022 04:03 AM PDT A TOTAL of 7,145 or 64.77 percent of the 11,033 examinees who are members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) successfully passed the recent National Police Commission's (Napolcom) Special Qualifying Eligibility Examination (NSQE).The NSQE was held on May 29 in the cities of Cotabato and Lamitan and the result was released on Monday, July 12, by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).Mohd Asnin Pendatun, cabinet secretary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), said that the NSQE was conducted pursuant to Republic Act 11054, otherwise known as the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), which provides the former MILF and MNLF members appropriate eligibility for temporary appointment to the rank of patrolman or patrolwoman in the Philippine National Police (PNP)."We are very grateful that we have a high passing rate for the qualifying exam, and we are very happy because the sacrifice of our applicants has paid off. We understand that the validation process of the application is meticulous because we have to ensure that applicants are legitimate MILF and MNLF members," Pendatun said.Pendatun assured that the Barmm government will continue to provide assistance to improve the applicants' experience in getting admitted to PNP agencies."This is just a testament that symbolized the partnership between the National and Bangsamoro governments for the peace process," he added.Meanwhile, Pendatun clarified the speculations that there was bribery during the recruitment for aspiring MILF and MILF members.Abdul Hakim Gandarosa, 26, from East Basak, Marawi City, and a graduate of Mindanao State University-Main Campus topped the special examination with an average rating of 91.94 percent.Following second is Sittie Aisah Amerah Tanday, 25, from Carmen, North Cotabato with an average of 91.48 percent. | 1 arrested, P187,000 smuggled cigarettes seized Posted: 14 Jul 2022 03:58 AM PDT OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) together with policemen have arrested one person and seized some P187,500 worth of smuggled cigarettes in an anti-smuggling operation in Lanao del Sur.The Area Police Command-Western Mindanao identified the arrested person as Aliakbar Lailah, 27, a resident of San Jose village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.The police said Lailah was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in an anti-smuggling operation in Matampay village, Balabagan, Lanao del Sur.The police said Lailah was driving a sports utility vehicle loaded with 13 master cases of undocumented cigarettes with P187,500 when intercepted and arrested by the CIDG and police operatives.Lailah together with the confiscated evidence was brought to CIDG Lanao del Sur office for documentation and proper disposition prior filing of appropriate cases.
