NegOcc tourism officers gear up for upcoming training, activities

THE Negros Occidental Tourism Division (NOTD) has spearheaded the third quarter meeting tourism officers in the province to discuss the upcoming training and activities.The activity held at the Provincial Capitol's Social Hall in Bacolod City Monday, July 18, 2022, was also in preparation for the 22nd Provincial Tourism Week celebration in September this year.The group also reported updates on tourism statistics, second quarter accomplishments, and third quarter plans and programs.Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who attended the activity, said that the prospects for recovery in travel and tourism are improving due to mass vaccination and easing of travel restrictions.Lacson expressed hopes for a more sustained increase and growth in the province's tourism sector."Always remember that our province is among the most gifted in terms of human and natural resources, and with our rich history, culture and cuisine, Negros Occidental carries the most potential for tourism," he added.The governor also assured the tourism officers that the provincial government will always support them, particularly in preserving the potential of the province and Negrenses.Also present in the meeting were Artemio Ticar of the Department of Tourism Region - Western Visayas, Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II, Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena, and Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occidental (Atono) president Juanily Pedrosa, among others. 486 Pamet-Visayas members attend regional confab

THE Philippine Association of Medical Technologists Inc. (Pamet) Visayas has culminated its three-day 11th Regional Conference at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City on Sunday, July 17, 2022.About 486 delegates attended the event in a hybrid convention platform as it included virtual and face-to-face conference.It was also attended by its national president Rommel Saceda together with some national officials and chapter presidents from the whole Visayas region.During the program, a recognition was given to the past chapter officers and exhibitors for their support to the organization.Saceda also thanked the local chapter's organizing committee for successfully conducting the event.Next year's regional event will be hosted by Pamet-Iloilo Chapter. National Accountancy Week celebration set

THE Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa), the accredited national professional organization of certified public accountants, will be having the National Accountancy Week Celebration on July 18 to 22, 2022.This year's theme is "Play It Forward: Securing a Sustainable Future" in relation to the "Centenary Year of the Philippine Accountancy Profession."Picpa-Negros Occidental, in a press release yesterday, July 18, said the National Accountancy Week Celebration is an important event held by the accountancy profession to advance the practice, sustain its status, recognize its significant contributions to society and nation-building.It is co-sponsored by the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice (Acpapp), Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (Acpaci), Government Association of Certified Public Accountants (Gacpa) and National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (Nacpae).Picpa-Negros Occidental Chapter activities include courtesy call to key governmentoffices and Diocese of Bacolod, motorcade parade, opening programs, turnover, induction of new officers, general membership assembly, and tree growing program.The national organization is also conducting online webinars for the members.This year's theme acknowledges the uncertainty brought by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the chapter said."Despite it, accountants can help organizations in moving forward towards a sustainable future," it added.
