Amid the FTX debacle and chaos in crypto trading this week, one glaring fact has stood out: bitcoin futures ETFs, including the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO), saw record trading volume, and operated smoothly, in a regulated market (futures). Speaking of bitcoin...the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO), the world's largest crypto ETP, experienced record trading volume on Tuesday. Crazy risk-on is back. Cathie Wood's ARK fund had its best day on Thursday, up 15%, and huge amounts of money are again flowing into high-yield funds like iShares iBoxx High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) and SPDR Bloomberg High Yield Bond ETF (JNK). META's 24% bounce this week is welcome news to several ETF funds. META has a weighting of more than 10% in several very large ETFs, the most prominent of which is the Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLC), along with other ETFs that mimic the Communication sector. But other ETFs Global X Social Media ETF (SOCL), the Invesco NASDAQ Internet ET (PNQI) and the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF (METV) also have significant weightings in META. All have bounced nicely this week. You think stocks had a good week...gold is having its best week in ages. SPDR Gold Share (GLD) up 5.1% this week, it's best week in more than two years. ETF trading comes to the NYSE floor. NYSE Arca, the NYSE's electronic trading arm, is the largest exchange trading ETFs. But Monday ETF trading will come to the NYSE floor, when the Pimco Active Bond ETF (BOND) transfers its listing from NYSE Arca to the NYSE, where it will trade on the floor. |
