 | More details came out about the shooting at a Baltimore block party. | - The latest: At least two people opened fire in the early Sunday morning shooting in South Baltimore, police said. Two people were killed and 28 others wounded. Authorities also said at least three firearms were involved.
- Policing questions: Officials said the block party didn't have a permit, so officers were not assigned. The city council will meet next week to discuss the response.

Off-duty Metro employee Kurt Modeste was fatally shot at a McDonald's drive-through in Prince George's County on Sunday. It was part of a string of armed carjackings that authorities said also left a woman injured and two dogs dead.
- The big picture: Carjackings have surged in the area. D.C. police reported 140 carjackings last month, the highest number in at least five years.
