| Dear Naked Capitalism reader, Many of you know and are fans of Harry Shearer. He's a performer, writer, producer, and radio host, plus a longstanding friend of Naked Capitalism. Harry has two anonymous donors joining him to issue a challenge to help with our goal of funding our guest writers. They will match the next 50 donations of $100! We are behind where we should be in this fundraiser, so please dig deep to help us meet our targets! Make their fabulous offer a speedy success by going to our donation page now! And please keep in mind that we are behind where we should be in this fundraiser, so please deep to help us meet our targets! Every goal is important to help keep our lean and mean operation running high speed to give you the rich and varied informational diet, witty commentary, and the adorable animal photos to which you've become accustomed (we hope addicted!) Many of you found our site because Harry invited Yves several times to appear on his program Le Show, primarily to discuss private equity and CalPERS. Harry is an exceptionally gracious and savvy interviewer. Even though he is best known for his role as bassist Derek Smalls in This Is Spinal Tap and as a voice actor on The Simpsons ("Mr. Burns," "God," among many others) Harry has also has a strong interest in politics. The official denial of negligence in the Hurricane Katrina flooding led him to produce the documentary The Big Uneasy. We hope you've come to share the sentiments of other readers. From upstater: Thank you for your tireless efforts all these years at NC! I cannot believe the clarity and integrity of most everything at NC, starting with your own posts and those of the many contributors. And as many say, the NC Commentariat is the Best (almost always...) I came across NC through The Oil Drum probably in the build-up of the GFC. The reporting and links at NC have long since become my preferred site for actual news. 15+ years is a long time reading NC! Once again, thank you so much for your fearless reporting. BTW, thanks to NC and Lambert, we've avoided COVID using our N95s and common sense. And Taylor B: In appreciation for always interesting and wide-ranging content, have sent a check today in the amount of 100.00 dollars from this constant reader. Thank-you for your unflagging efforts in producing such a high value product. And François: I can only confirm all the nice words that you received. A check of $300 is in the mail. A more personal note: as a French reader, I particularly appreciate the contributions by Aurélien/David. Not that I share all his worldview, but I find him very well attuned to the political mood in France. In fact, the whole commentariat is like a big family or a group of regulars at the bistro. Thank you, thank you for all your great work. All the best. You can make your contribution through our donation page, which shows how to give via check, credit card, debit card or PayPal or our new payment processor, Clover. Thanks to Harry and his fellow donors for their generosity, and I hope readers will respond in kind. And if $50 or $100 is a stretch for you, don't let that stop you from making a donation if you've been planning to but haven't had time yet. Every contribution helps us meet our goals. And the other important way to help is by telling others about our work, whether in person to friends, family, and colleagues, or in social media like Facebook and Twitter. So I hope you'll take Harry and his friends up on his fundraiser challenge in whatever way you can! Yves |
