Resolution to strengthen Oro's border controls, stringent monitoring pushed Posted: 29 Mar 2021 06:35 AM PDT THE Cagayan de Oro City Local Task Force has issued a resolution that aims to strengthen the existing border controls of the city and the stringent monitoring and surveillance as protective measures against Covid-19 variants and the rising national cases. Under the resolution, the arrivals profiling mechanism will be strengthened to reinforce the Department of Health's (DOH) triaging at Laguindingan Airport and at the Macabalan seaport. Partnership with airlines, shipping lines, and bus companies for long-haul travel will also be reinforced so that the arrivals register and declare their health status. Also under the resolution is the no immediate Covid-19 testing of arrivals. The city will not require pre-travel RT-PCR results nor undertake immediate RT-PCR testing of arrivals. Instead, the city will intensify its barangay monitoring and surveillance of arrivals. The city, through the resolution, also called on the Barangay Health Emergency Teams (BHERTS) to engage in more stringent monitoring and surveillance of active cases in the community. These will be reported to the City Health Emergency Management System team at the City Health Office. The public and the business groups are also encouraged to report to the BHERTS of newly-arrived individuals from areas with high number of coronavirus infections who exhibit Covid-19 symptoms in their communities and business establishments. Oro logs 16 new Covid-19 cases over the weekend Posted: 29 Mar 2021 06:34 AM PDT THE Cagayan de Oro City Health Office logged 16 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases over the weekend, one of which is a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) and 15 are local transmissions. This brought the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the city to 4,086. Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 15 new local cases, seven are close contacts of previously confirmed cases and eight are local index cases. Of the 4,086 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 427 are under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 3,659 cases are local transmissions. Nery said the 3,659 local cases consist of 189 persons deprived of liberty (PDL), 2,149 local index cases and 1,509 local cases with link. Cagayan de Oro recorded 146 active cases, 47 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 94 are outpatients, and four ROFs/LSIs. The city also registered 22 new coronavirus-positive persons who are now tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 3,746, with a 91.67-percent recovery rate. Of the figure, 302 were LSIs, 119 were ROFs, and 3,325 were local cases (community: 2,809; Apors: 516). The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is now at 194.
