Carmen remains the village with highest Covid-19 deaths

BARANGAY Carmen remains to be the village that has the most number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) deaths in Cagayan de Oro, recording a total of 21 deaths, City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Barangay Carmen, however, is one of the areas in the city with the lowest case fatality rate, lesser than the case fatality rate of Cagayan de Oro, which is at 4.3 to 4.8 percent.

Following Carmen are Barangay Lapasan with 18 deaths; Barangay Macabalan with 15; Barangay Gusa with 15; Barangay Camaman-an with 13; Barangay Bugo with 12; Barangay Balulang with 11; Barangay Tablon with 10; Barangay Puntod with nine; Barangay Bulua with nine; Barangay Kauswagan with eight; Barangay Cugman with six; and Barangay Lumbia with six.

Barangay Puntod also remains to be the barangay with the highest case fatality rate in the city at 13.04 percent.

The barangay with the second-highest case fatality rate is Barangay Macabalan at 11.45 percent, followed by Barangays Tablon (10.20 percent), Gusa (9.87 percent), Lapasan (7.69 percent), Camaman-an (7.69 percent), Cugman (6.45 percent), Bugo (6.12 percent), and Bulua (5 percent).

"Katong over five percent, kana dili buot pasabot nga daghan kaayo sila tungod sa Covid kun dili gamay ra ang ilang mga kaso pero ang ilang mga kaso mga severe kay kasagaran ani nilang mga deaths naa nahitabo sa ospital," Retuya said.

Barangays with case fatality rate less than five percent are Barangays Balulang (4.85 percent), Carmen (4.36 percent), Lumbia (4.35 percent), and Kauswagan (2.54 percent).

Barangays Carmen also has the most number of Covid-19 cases in the city at 482.

The rest of the barangays are Barangay Kauswagan with 315 cases; Barangay Lapasan with 234; Barangay Balulang with 227; Barangay Bugo with 196; Barangay Bulua with 180; Barangay Camaman-an with 169; Barangay Gusa with 152; Barangay Lumbia with 138; Barangay Macabalan with 131; Barangay Tablon with 98; Barangay Cugman with 93; and Barangay Puntod with 69.

8 Kagay-anons contract coronavirus

THE number of new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro continued to drop as the City Health Office reported only eight residents who tested positive for the virus.

This brought the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 3,993.

According to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, two of the eight new cases are local cases with link, while the other six are local index cases.

Of the 3,993 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 423 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 3,570 cases were local transmissions.

Nery said the 3,570 local cases consist of 189 persons deprived of liberty (PDL), 1,914 local index cases and 1,466 local cases with link.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded 152 active cases, 47 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 104 are outpatients, and one ROF.

The city also registered 11 new coronavirus-positive persons who are now tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 3,650, with a 91.40 percent recovery rate.

Of the figure, 302 were LSIs, 119 were ROFs, and 3,229 were local cases (community: 2,727; Apors: 502).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is now at 191.
