Oro, Misamis Oriental prepare for Holy Week observance

BARANGAYS in Cagayan de Oro City where pilgrimage sites are located have passed resolutions and executive orders in preparation for the observance of the Holy Week.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said among those barangays are Balubal, Cugman and Tablon.

"So far, sa atong na-monitor ang Barangay Balubal naay gi-pass nga resolution nga nag-prohibit sa pag agi sa entrance gikan sa Balubal paingon sa Guadalupe Shrine kay for closure ang ilang area," Nery said.

Barangay Cugman, on the other hand, passed a resolution prohibiting the public from doing the Station of the Cross or Via Crucis in Malasag, Nery said.

Barangay Tablon also has an executive order prohibiting the public from entering the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine.

Meanwhile, the Misamis Oriental Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force has prohibited the observance of some religious activities from March 29 to April 3, 2021, namely: religious procession, spiritual pilgrimage through the Station of the Cross, religious street plays, and analogous activities.

Tourist destination and pilgrimage sites were advised to strictly abide by the 50 percent capacity rule in receiving visitors during the Easter Sunday on April 4.

The public, particularly those who are planning on participating in some religious activities, are reminded to observe the minimum public health protocols, such as the wearing of face mask and face shield, social/physical distancing and frequent handwashing.

Cagayan de Oro recovery rate at 91.82%

THE recovery rate of Cagayan de Oro City continues to rise as it recorded 12 new Covid-19 recoveries, bringing the total number of those who have recovered from the disease to 3,718.

The city's recovery rate is now at 91.82 percent.

Of the 3718 recoveries, 302 are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), 119 are returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), and 3,297 are local cases (community: 2,783; Apors: 514).

As of March 24, 12 residents of the city have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, one of which is an ROF and 11 are local transmissions.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in Cagayan de Oro to 4,049.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 11 new local cases, four are local index cases, five are local cases with link, one authorized person outside residence (Apor), and five are local index cases.

Of the 4,049 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 426 were under the ROFs/LSIs category and 3,623 cases were local transmissions.

According to Nery, the 3,623 local cases consist of 189 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), 1,939 local index cases and 1,493 local cases with link.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded 139 active cases, 48 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 88 are outpatients, and three ROFs/LSIs.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is now at 192.
