3 most wanted persons nabbed Posted: 24 May 2021 03:41 AM PDT POLICE have arrested three most wanted persons in separate law enforcement operations in Zamboanga Peninsula, an official said Monday, May 24. Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested wanted persons as Joey Opo, 33; Wilmart Siñerez, 22; and Carlito Murcia, 46. Chang said Opo was arrested in a law enforcement operation around 11 a.m. Sunday, May 23, in Purok Santo Niño, Libertad, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. Chang said Opo has been listed as the number one most wanted person in Mandaue City, Cebu and has a standing warrant of arrest for robbery with rape with no recommended bail issued by the court of Cebu City. Chang said Siñerez was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 23, on Jayna Street, Sitio Camarin in 175 village, Caloocan City. She said Siñerez has been listed as the number two most wanted person in Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur and has standing warrant of arrest for rape and acts of lasciviousness with P12,000 recommended bail. She said Murcia was arrested around 4 a.m. Monday, May 24, in Purok 1 in Taguitic village, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte. Murcia has a standing warrant of arrest for murder with no recommended bail issued by the court of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. Barmm gives life-saving equipment to Marawi hospital Posted: 24 May 2021 03:19 AM PDT THE Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-Barmm) has given medical equipment and supplies to boost the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) response of the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) in Marawi City. Dr. Bashary Latiph, MOH-Barmm minister, said that among the equipment the APMC received were two mechanical ventilators, three high flow oxygen machines, personal protective equipment, and various Covid-19 medical supplies. Latiph turned over Friday, May 21, the supplies to Dr. Shalimar Sani-Rakiin, APMC hospital chief. Rakiin expressed her gratitude to MOH-Barmm for its life saving support to APMC in its continuing battle with covid-19. Meanwhile, Latiph committed to employ more nurses to APMC to address its workforce shortage on its covid-19 facilities. ITCZ destroys 22.6-M agricultural crops Posted: 24 May 2021 03:19 AM PDT FLASH floods spawned by rains due to Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) last week inundated 671.58 hectares of farmlands and fishponds in the east coast. City Agriculturist Carmencita Sanches said the damage to crops was estimated to have reached P22.6 million, of which P11.005 million is the cost for damage to agricultural crops while P11.64 million is the cost for damage to seaweeds and fishpond products. Sanchez said that of the total 671.58 hectares damaged farmlands and fishponds, 216.60 hectares were planted with rice; corn, 1.06 hectares; assorted vegetables, 26.42 hectares; seaweeds, 327.70 hectares; and fishponds, 99.80 hectares. Sanchez said a total of 1,396 farmers were affected. She said the biggest damage was incurred by 893 farmers in Manicahan and Curuan districts, with value of losses estimated at P8.92 million, followed by 94 vegetable farmers in Manicahan, Vitali and Tumaga districts who lost some P6.20 million worth of crops due to the flash floods. Zamboanga anti-drug stings net 7 drug suspects Posted: 23 May 2021 05:41 AM PDT SEVEN persons were arrested, while close to P100,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in the Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported Sunday, May 23, 2021. Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Jomar Villegas, 29; Adamson Ceniza, 40; Reykhent Silvano, 28; Mark Delos Santos, 29; Benhar Salip-Majid, 42; Ronald Camanio, 35; and, August Sambo, 52. Chang said Villegas, a parking attendant, was arrested in possession of some P3,400 worth of illegal drugs, a sling bag, and P200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 3:05 p.m. Saturday along Roberto Villares Road in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City. She said Ceniza, a businessman, yielded some P47,600 worth of suspected shabu, a pouch, and P2,500 marked money when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 6:30 p.m. Saturday along Governor Ramos Avenue in Santa Maria village, Zamboanga City. Chang said seized from Silvano, unemployed, and Delos Santos, a construction worker, were some P8,160 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 6:20 p.m. Saturday at Prias Drive in Tumaga village, Zamboanga City. She said recovered from Salilp-Majid were some P3,500 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Santa Catalina village, Zamboanga City. Chang said Camanio was found in possession of some P34,000 worth of illegal drugs and marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:40 p.m. Saturday in Gatas village, Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte. She said confiscated from Sambo were some P68,000 worth of suspected shabu and five P1,000 bills boodle money topped with two genuine P500 as marked money when nabbed in a buy-bust operation around 10:20 p.m. Saturday in Purok Farmer in Olingan village, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. She added that the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. Wanted person, wife hurt in shootout Posted: 23 May 2021 05:40 AM PDT A WANTED person and his wife were injured in a shootout in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported. Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified them as Wahabbin Abdulhari, 48, and his wife, Rhaida, who were both admitted to the district hospital of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. Ylagan said the couple was injured in a shootout that ensued around 5:30 a.m. Friday in Purok A in Canacan village, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay province. He said the shootout broke out when Abdulhari, armed with a caliber .45 pistol, opened fire but missed when the policemen were about to serve an arrest warrant against him. Ylagan said policemen returned fire, hitting both Abdulhari and his wife on their legs. He said Abdulhari has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of two-count attempted murder with P24,000 recommended bail dated September 1, 2010, issued by the court of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. Ylagan said that Abdulhari will be facing additional charges, as cases of attempted murder and violation of Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against him. Officials ink pact to lessen loose guns in Basilan Posted: 23 May 2021 05:36 AM PDT MILITARY and provincial government officials of Basilan have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that seeks to intensify the implementation of the small arms and light weapons (SALW) program in the province. Basilan Governor Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman said the SALW program seeks to lessen, if not eradicate, the number of small arms and light weapons of individuals and groups to prevent them from creating havoc in the communities. the implementation of the SALW program was initiated by the Basilan provincial government in partnership with the government's Joint Normalization Committee headed Ariel Hernandez. Salliman, Brigadier General Domingo Gobway, Joint Task Force Basilan commander, Police Colonel Rodrigo Maramo, Basilan police director, and Lieutenant Colonel Alex Ampati, 4th Special Forces Battalion commander, spearheaded the signing of MOU on SALW Program in a ceremony Friday, May 21, at the basketball court of Buton village, Hadji Mohammad Ajul town. The municipal and village officials of Hadji Mohammad Ajul led by Mayor Ibrahim Hadji Ballaho took part in the momentous event. "Joint Task Force Basilan will continue to support our partners and stakeholders in all their endeavors for the attainment of our common goal that is to sustain peace in all the municipalities of Basilan," Gobway said. During the ceremony, Captain Sherwin Latiera, 15th Special Forces Company commander, presented 23 assorted loose firearms to Gobway and Salliman. Latiera said the firearms were voluntarily surrendered by civilians from different villages of Hadji Mohammad Ajul town. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of Western Mindanao Command, extended his full support to the implementation of the SALW program in Basilan. "Let us continue to work together to win lasting peace and progress in our respective community," Vinluan added.
