Kap-Pihan sa Alangilan: Gatorade Mountain Bike Challenge excites robust bikers Posted: 23 May 2021 07:00 AM PDT A MULTITUDE of young and 40 and up bikers competed for the different categories at the maiden edition of the Kap-Pihan sa Alangilan-Gatorade Mountain Bike Challenge held on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Bikers exhibited vigor, speed, and endurance during the race, outspeeding each other at the rough and roller coaster race track developed by Punong Barangay Degie Tanista surrounding the Kap-Pihan sa Alangilan. As health protocol is of primary concern citing the continued cases of Covid-19, the Punong Barangay has appealed to the participants and also the biking enthusiasts to observe the proper wearing of face mask, social distancing and washing of hands. "Let us enjoy the game but let us follow the health protocol. Just finish the race safely," he said. The various categories include the ages 15-19; 20-39; 40 and up and the Women's Open. The top 3 for the women's category were Jwynn Muyco of Bago City, champion; Athena Tashah Sonota of Team Granadians, 1st runner up; MJ Palasol of Victorias City, 2nd runner up. For the 19 under category, Jethro Camus of Garage 034, champion; Clyde Gacho, 1st runner up and Jay Morales, 2nd runner up For ages 40 up, the winners were Joey Trespice, champion; Joven Chaplin Hilario, 1st runner up, and Mr. Borot, 2nd runner up. For the Open Category, Aldren Alojado of team lemons Bago City, champion; Rusty Concepcion of team lemons Bago City, 1st runner up, and Richard Dumlao of Team KD, 2nd runner up. Pepsi General Manager Gerardo Madamba and Garrett Tabanao, Group Sales Manager graced the said mountain bike challenge. Barangay Alangilan in Bacolod City and Province of Negros Occidental is considered as a haven for biking. They support this activity to promote these biking sites as well as provide the bikers, the opportunity to show their potential, skills, and discipline in withstanding the race.
