| Cagayan de Oro eyes purchase of more mechanical ventilators Posted: 02 Jun 2021 06:33 AM PDT CAGAYAN de Oro City Oscar Moreno on Wednesday, June 2, said that he is looking at the possibility of buying more mechanical ventilators. "If kung makaya pa nato... ang mechanical ventilator is a lot more expensive pero we're looking at the possibility of buying more mechanical ventilators," Moreno said. He also plans to convert some of the rooms of the hospital into intensive care units (ICUs), targeting 60 to 80 isolation wards at the JR Borja General Hospital. These measures are to address the steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the city. "Dili sayon ang pag convert sa usa ka room into an ICU. Kinahanglan pa na og approval sa DOH (Department of Health), etc. Pero we are working on that," Moreno said. "Atong ginabuhaton sa JR Borja. Hopefully mga 60-80 wards ang atong target diha, including mga rooms nga para sa isolation," he added. The mayor is hopeful that with Cagayan de Oro City placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), the number of infections in the city will decline. "With the less mobility of people, hopefully mominus ang number of cases and kung mominus ang number of cases, by law of averages, hopefully mominus pud ang number of severe and critical cases nga kinahanglan gyud didto i-confine sa NMMC (Northern Mindanao Medical Center) ug mga hospitals nga naay ICU beds," Moreno said. Moreno also called on coronavirus-positive patients who are under home quarantine to contact the City Hall for extraction to prevent more infections. "Ang akong hangyo sa positive nga naa pa gihapon sa ilang balay, please get in touch," Moreno said. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
