108 Cagayan de Oro residents contract coronavirus Posted: 12 Jun 2021 07:37 AM PDT THE Cagayan de Oro City Health Office recorded 108 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, one of which is a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) and 107 are local transmissions. This brought the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 8,634. Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 107 new local cases, 24 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, five were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), 67 were local index cases, 10 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and one mortality. Of the 8,634 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 442 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 8,192 cases were local transmissions. Cagayan de Oro logged 1,563 active cases, 404 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 1,157 were outpatients, and two ROFs/LSIs. The city also registered 128 new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 6,691, with a 77.49-percent recovery rate. Of the figure, 315 were LSIs, 124 were ROFs, and 6,252 were local cases (community: 5,260; Apors: 992). The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is now at 380. NMMC reaches full capacity for Covid-19 Posted: 12 Jun 2021 07:37 AM PDT THE Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) operating capacity for Covid-19 has reached maximum, the hospital's Research Center head Dr. Gina Itchon confirmed on Friday, June 11. In a public advisory posted on NMMC's social media page, it stated that the hospital's emergency room and wards for Covid-19 patients are currently oprating beyond limits. "In terms of Covid patients, puno na ang NMMC," Itchon said. Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, for his part, has once again called for the public's cooperation in the combat against the novel coronavirus. "I hope ang katawhan would realize sooner rather than later na kinahanglan gyud ang kooperasyon sa katawhan kay kung ang katawhan dili mag-cooperate, mosaka pa gihapon kanang mga cases," Moreno said. "Di na gyud na makaya bisan pag pila ka NMMC ang imong ibutang di na gyud na kaya and that will even lead us to greater problems and we would not want that to happen," he added. The city mayor further said that if the steady increase in the number of Covid-positive cases continues and there's no improvement in the city's healthcare utilization rate (HCUR), Cagayan de Oro might be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). It can be recalled that Cagayan de Oro is under modified ECQ from June 1 to 15. Cagayan de Oro's HCUR has reached 77.4 percent. For an area to be placed under ECQ, its HCUR should be 85 percent or more. The HCUR is the percentage of Covid-19 isolation beds, critical care beds, and mechanical ventilators that are being used in a city or province at the time. "Ang atong figure karon sa healthcare utilization rate, the average of 77.4 percent, still requires nga naa kita sa MECQ," Moreno said. "Kung gusto nato nga ma-lower ang atong quarantine level to GCQ or MGCQ, then we must strive to lower our average sa atong healthcare utilization rate.
