Zamboanga City distributes relief goods in containment zones Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:54 AM PDT THE Zamboanga City Government has provided relief goods to families under "area lockdown" or the so-called "containment zone" due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the relief goods include rice, canned goods, toiletries, vitamins and other stuff to help tide the families over during the 14 to 21-day holding period. Salazar said the distribution of the relief goods following the declaration of the lockdown was spearheaded by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and City Health Office, together with the police, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Liga ng mga Barangay, as well as the village council concerned. She said the declaration was done with careful analysis of the Covid-19 statistics, site inspection and coordination, among others, in compliance with the national Inter-Agency Task Force for Managing of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) guidelines. Earlier this month, the IATF-EID granted this city's urgent appeal for the implementation of granular or localized lockdown that is limited in scope depending on the transmission risks. CDRRMO Chief Elmeir Jade Apolinario said the lockdown scheme restricts the movement of residents in smaller areas -- home, street, sitio, purok, subdivision or village -- with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases. Apolinario said the scheme isolates households with newly-confirmed Covid-19 cases from the greater population.
