Cagayan de Oro to lose more than P100M a day from June 1 to July 31

THE National Economic and Development Authority (Neda)-Northern Mindanao has estimated Cagayan de Oro's daily output loss to be more than a hundred million during the period that the city is under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

According to Neda Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño, they have estimates for two scenarios. Scenario one involves Cagayan de Oro under MECQ on June 1 to July 15 and under general community quarantine (GCQ) from July 16 to 31. The second scenario, on the other hand, has the city under MECQ from June 1 to July 31.

Cariño said that under scenario one, Neda estimated Cagayan de Oro's output loss between P4.57 billion to P4.67 billion. The city's daily losses will be between P100.67 million to 103.89 million.

In scenario two, Cariño said that the city will lose P6.31 billion to P6.45 billion, with the average daily losses of between P140 million to P143 million.

Meanwhile, only 9,871 establishments or 26 percent of the total establishments in Northern Mindanao has remained operational at present.

Neda has recorded 37,340 establishments in the entire region.

Cagayan de Oro records 71 more Covid-19 cases

SEVENTY-ONE residents of Cagayan de Oro has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in the city to 10,149.

According to the City Health Office, of the 71 new cases, 24 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, six were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), 35 were local index cases, and six were local Apors with link.

Cagayan de Oro's active cases also went down to 1,020 cases, 318 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, and 702 were outpatients.

The city also registered 88 new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered." This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 8,650.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was now at 479.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-positive vaccinated individuals in Cagayan de Oro was now at 877, city epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported.

According to Retuya, of the 877 vaccinees, 596 were vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine, 231 were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, 38 with Pfizer, nine with Sputnik V, and three Sinopharm.

Of the 596 Covid-positive Sinovac vaccinees, 430 individuals were experiencing mild symptoms, 130 were asymptomatic, 32 were moderate cases, and four were severe cases.

Among the 231 AstraZeneca vaccinees, 158 individuals had mild symptoms, 53 were asymptomatic, 19 had moderate symptoms, and one was a severe case.
