Sunday Scoop: Runaway Princess

If you are having trouble viewing this email, click here.

On July 1, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. But while Charlene paid sweet tribute to her husband on Instagram, she actually spent the day 7,500 miles away from him in her native South Africa, where many believe she has been living since March. The official word is she is suffering from an ear, nose and throat infection and needs multiple procedures that will keep her there "indefinitely." But Monaco insiders say she's angry at her prince amid rumors that he has fathered yet another child out of wedlock. (Albert has two confirmed illegitimate children along with 6-year-old twins by Charlene.) "She cut her hair the day she found out," a longtime Monaco resident close to the palace told The Post. "It was a radical move designed to show him ... how bad she felt and what terrible news this was." We take a deeper look at Charlene's mysterious marriage, and why she may have tried to escape her royal wedding in 2011, with our story below. Meanwhile, nurse Maggie Rawlins is seizing her moment in the spotlight. A registered nurse who tended New York City's COVID victims during the pandemic, she is also a model and will soon appear in Sports Illustrated's new Swimsuit Issue. We also have the latest from new books — on "the increase" in demonic possessions, Richard Marx's bizarre rise to fame, and how Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton's enmity led to our divided nation today. Good to know our Founding Fathers were just like us, especially on Independence Day. Enjoy, and Happy Fourth!
