The country won't hit President Biden's Covid vaccination goal, and there are signs the Delta variant of the virus could create some problems, but things are largely headed in the right direction. The economy is getting stronger – the U.S. added a more-than-expected 850,000 jobs in June – and Covid deaths are declining. Whether Biden gets his big ticket agenda through, though, is another matter.     Here's what's happening: You're indicted: Former President Trump's family business, the Trump Organization, is now an accused criminal enterprise. A Manhattan grand jury charged the company and its longtime financial chief, Allen Weisselberg, with over a dozen tax-related crimes, alleging a yearslong scheme to dodge taxes on executive compensation. Both Weisselberg and the company pleaded not guilty, and Trump himself was not charged. There could be more charges to come, however. Prosecutors say the investigation is ongoing. The global tax chess board: Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen yesterday announced that 130 countries had signed on the United States' push for a global minimum tax rate on corporations. The Biden administration counts this as a victory for its agenda. Tax inequality is a major issue for Biden and the Democrats. But there are key details missing from the agreement, namely the minimum rate itself. Biden has been pushing for a minimum of 15%. G-20 finance ministers and central bank governors are set to meet in Venice later this month, and the global minimum tax is expected to be a big part of talks. Pelosi gives Cheney a big assignment: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has picked her eight members of the select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 pro-Trump Capitol invasion. They weren't all Democrats, though. One name stood out: Rep. Liz Cheney, Republican of Wyoming. Cheney has been one of the most prominent critics of Trump from the right, and it cost her a spot in GOP House leadership.  Thanks for reading CNBC Politics.
