17 close contacts of Batch 4 Delta cases in isolation facilities

THE City Health Office has identified 17 close contacts of the fourth batch of Delta variant cases in Cagayan de Oro.

According to City Health Office medical officer Dr. Teodoro Yu, the said close contacts are already in the city's isolation facilities.

Yu said among the Batch 4 Delta variant cases, three of them underwent re-swabbing on Tuesday, August 17.

They tested positive on July 26 and were isolated on July 27. They were declared clinically recovered on August 11. They were isolated again after the result from the Philippine Genome Institute read that they were infected with the Delta variant.

The medical officer added that the monitoring of the second and third-generation close contacts of the Delta variant cases is still ongoing.

The City Health Office is conducting its contact tracing and influenza-like illness and acute respiratory illness monitoring in Barangays Macasandig, Carmen, and Balulang.

123 Cagayan de Oro residents contract coronavirus

THE new coronavirus disease cases in Cagayan de Oro are still in the hundreds, with the city recording 123 new local cases, bringing the cumulative number of infections to 15,217.

Of the 123 new confirmed cases, 77 were local index cases, 28 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, 10 local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), and eight mortalities.

Cagayan de Oro recorded 2,670 active cases, 759 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, and 1,911 were outpatients.

The city also registered 91 new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered." This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 11,892.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was now at 655.

Meanwhile, the total number of vaccinated confirmed coronavirus-positive individuals in Cagayan de Oro has reached 2,578, according to the report of the City Health Office.

Retuya said of the 2,578 vaccinees, 1,636 were vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine, 505 were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, 182 with Pfizer, 135 with Sputnik V, 114 with Janssen, three with Sinopharm, and three with Moderna.

Of the 1,636 coronavirus-positive Sinovac vaccinees, 1,262 individuals are experiencing mild symptoms, 259 are asymptomatic, 108 have moderate symptoms, and seven are severe cases.

Among the 505 AstraZeneca vaccinees, 369 individuals have mild symptoms, 99 are asymptomatic, 34 have moderate symptoms, and three severe cases.
