DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula receives 29th batch of vaccines Posted: 03 Sep 2021 08:42 AM PDT THE Department of Health (DOH)-Zamboanga Peninsula announced that the vaccination program will continue until all of the eligible population in the region will be vaccinated. Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula assistant director, made the announcement as some 12,300 doses consisting of the 29th batch of vaccines for the region arrived here on Thursday, September 2. Alpichi said 5,280 of the 12,300 doses of vaccines are Sinovac, while the remaining 7,020 doses are Pfizer. Alpichi said the 29th batch of vaccines is intended for this city and the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Sur. "We will not stop until all the eligible population will be vaccinated," he added. He said as of September 2, they have received a total of 2,404,830 doses of vaccines. He said these are as follows: Sinovac, 2,031,600; AstraZeneca, 187,700; Janssen, 109,200; Pfizer, 60,330; Gamaleya, 8,100; and Moderna, 7,900. Meanwhile, the Zamboanga del Sur Integrated Provincial Health Office received in the afternoon of Thursday, September 2, some 1,200 doses of Pfizer vaccines. 97IB troops join Brigada Eskwela in Zamboanga del Norte Posted: 03 Sep 2021 08:41 AM PDT TROOPS of the Army's 97th Infantry Battalion (97IB) joined the conduct of Brigada Eskwela in Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte. The Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is an annual activity led by the Department of Education (DepEd) where everyone in the school community, including the private sector, works together to prepare schools for the opening of the classes. The troops of the 97IB, armed with grass cutters and brooms, assisted the other participants of the Brigada Eskwela at Piñan Central Elementary School on Tuesday, August 31, headed by Renelda Salatandre, the school principal. The other participants of the activity were the teachers, policemen and parents of students. During the activity, they were able to clean the school grounds, paint some parts of the schools, segregate garbage, clean scattered pieces of wood and conducted a mower. Barmm distributes fruit-bearing tree seedlings in Basilan Posted: 03 Sep 2021 08:39 AM PDT THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mafar-Barmm) on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, distributed some 5,000 fruit-bearing tree seedlings in Basilan province. The Mafar-Barmm said in a statement that of the 5,000 tree seedlings, 2,500 are dwarf coconuts, 1,500 durian trees and 1,000 rambutan trees. It said the tree seedlings were distributed to 100 participants that included former combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation, members of the Basilan Ulamah Supreme Council and farmers. The Mafar-Barmm said it is part of the effort of the autonomous government in aiding the agricultural needs of MILF and MNLF farmers, as well as strengthening agricultural programs in the region. The distribution of tree seedlings was held with funding support from the Office of Member of Parliament Abdulmuhmin Mujahid. "This is the right time to distribute to these people so that they can plant, syempre wala na tayong problema sa peace and order dito sa Basilan (of course we no longer have a problem with peace and order here in Basilan)," Mujahid said. Meanwhile, Abulgani Tambu from the Basilan Ulamah Supreme Council, expressed his gratitude to the government of Barmm for helping the farmers in Basilan.
