| No new Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro Posted: 04 Dec 2021 05:38 AM PST The City Health Office of Cagayan de Oro on Saturday, December 4, 2021, reported that no new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were recorded in the city. Likewise, there were no new Covid-related deaths logged in the city, City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu said. The cumulative number of Covid infections in Cagayan de Oro remained at 20,421 and deaths were still at 850. Cagayan de Oro also recorded a drop in the number of active cases, which is at 141. Of the figure, 27 were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, and 114 were outpatients. The number of coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered" increased after the city registered seven new recoveries. | City Hall lights up Symphony of Lights at Gaston Park Posted: 04 Dec 2021 04:46 AM PST CAGAYAN de Oro City's Gaston Park and Ysalina Bridge lit up with hundreds of colorful lights as the City Government officially began the celebration of the Yuletide season Friday night, December 3. On Friday, the City Government kicked off the start of the Christmas season with the ceremonial switching of the Symphony of Lights. For his Christmas message, City Mayor Oscar Moreno cited the importance of celebrating Christmas, saying that the lighting at Gaston Park and Ysalina Bridge is to let people look at Christmas as an objective to also become the light to others. "Kinahanglan kaayo kana to remind ourselves of the supreme sacrifice sa atong Savior. I-remind nato ang atong kaugalingon sa Iyang pagkatao and of course sa Iyang misyon to save humanity," Moreno said. The city mayor also expressed his gratitude towards the frontliners who helped Cagayan de Oro reach 120 percent accomplishment during the three-day National Vaccination Days. "Nag target ang DOH sa 64,000 for three days. Ang atong nahimo sobra sa 78,000 or 120 percent nga performance," Moreno said. "Daghan ang dili makatuo that Cagayan de Oro would reach that level of performance," he added. Moreno also hoped that before Christmas, the city will reach herd immunity, saying that there is a strong chance that Cagayan de Oro will achieve 80 to 90 percent of the entire city population. "We will not stop until ang katapusan atong ma-vaccinate. Given the performance sa atong mga silingan na LGUs, kinahanglan nga ato gyung tabangan para makab-ot pud ang vaccination protection," Moreno said.
