| Oral arguments Wednesday at the Supreme Court on the future of legal abortion were, as most folks know, the culmination of a long campaign by American conservatives to overturn Roe v. Wade. But those arguments took place only after an equally long crusade by conservatives to overhaul the court's membership to favor reversal and usher in a host of other changes in American jurisprudence. That crusade is now virtually complete. The result is a radicalized Supreme Court, argues columnist and deputy editorial page editor Ruth Marcus, poised to make dramatic changes not only to reproductive rights, but also gun laws, administrative and environmental rules, and voting rights, among other issues.
