| Tesla reported that it delivered 241,300 cars during the third quarter of 2021, exceeding analyst expectations — but that kind of success is turning off a certain breed of e-car buyer. "Teslas are more of the norm, but that's because until now they were the only game in town," Guilford, Conn., resident Jeff Manfredonia told The Post. "I think of it like this: Maybe your dream was to buy a Porsche your whole life, but then when you're finally able to, you have other options." For him, the preferred option is an SUV from Rivian, which, along with Lucid, is one of the hot new EV makers attracting people turned off by Teslas (even if it means waiting years for a car). "There is nothing exciting or 'adventure' about [a Tesla]," said Jeff Larsson of Long Island, who put a down payment on a $90,000 Rivian truck in April 2019. He should finally have it in February. For Jon Rettinger, a former Tesla owner, it's that he "wanted a more luxury experience." His $169,000 Lucid arrived in Irvine, Calif., just before Christmas and he's enjoyed showing it off. "I've been stopped several times by people who want to talk about my car," Rettinger said. "People ... even take videos." Read all about these first adopters below. We also hear from insiders about Prince Andrew's desperate bid to return to public life amidst a sexual-assault lawsuit — and how Ghislaine Maxwell's guilty verdict may make that even more difficult.
